Training 1st for the Water Treatment Industry - EXPERTISE

On the 2nd of June 2021, PPM Contracts Manager Brian Crook became the very first graduate of SMS Environmental’s City & Guild Training Academy and will now begin his new role as a City & Guild Assured Auditor.

SMS recently furthered its relationship with Reading College and Activate Learning in December 2020 to offer a host of courses and practical training sessions which incorporate the use of brand new, purpose built, training bays designed to support plumbing students and existing engineers to learn valuable hands-on experience. The training areas allow learners to develop a core set of water hygiene and treatment skills that are increasingly essential to the water hygiene sector specifically and the plumbing trade more generally. Staff at Reading College have since received training also.

Upon completion of his training, Brian was the only person in the whole of the United Kingdom and in the water treatment industry to have completed City & Guild Assured courses for PPM and Sampling. He now holds certificates in:

WTT002 - Temperature Monitoring, Microbiological and Chemical Sampling of Water Systems
WTT004 - Routine Planned Maintenance for Legionella Control in Domestic Hot & Cold Water Systems & Other Risk Systems
WTT005 - Water Sample Collection and Transport to a Laboratory

From the very beginning of his journey at SMS Environmental, Brian has continued to listen, learn and gain an advanced understanding of our field of EXPERTISE, far beyond what has been set as the industry standard requirements. As a result of this, Brian will now audit all engineers who pass through SMS’s City & Guild Academy to ensure that as a company we promote and maintain a high standard of work across all of our sites.
