Early Beginnings
As a graduate in BSc in Forensic and Applied Biology, Dale honed his analytical skills across studies, and customer focused work, landing his first role following graduation as a Risk Assessment Administrator for a competitor in 2014, the first stage of his career in environmental consultancy.
A Step into SMS Environmental
In March 2021, Dale joined SMS as a Legionella Risk Assessor, conducting risk assessments in various commercial and domestic properties, including hotels and care homes. Responsible for developing legionella management policies and ensuring compliance with safety regulations, Dale appreciated the transition to SMS, noting,

Transitioning to Account Management
Following success as a Legionella Risk Assessor, Dale’s career has progressed, achieving praise internally from our CEO Mike Crook and Risk Assessment Technical Manager, John Mee, Dale was recommended to move internally to an Account Manager role. Dale has relished the opportunity to engage directly with clients, becoming the vital link between clients needs and SMS’s solutions.

This shift allowed him to use his expertise in a more dynamic way, addressing client issues directly and providing actionable insights.

I enjoy the people I work with—the team and the clients. My line manager, Natasha Kinsley-York, is super supportive, and my colleagues are always there to help with technical issues.
The camaraderie in the Wales office is fantastic, with Dale noting how engineers are always in good spirits, making the workplace enjoyable.
