Engineers - The keyworkers maintaining key infrastructure in the fight against COVID-19
During the COVID-19 pandemic, engineers have played pivotal roles behind the scenes in keeping industries and buildings up and running. And whilst they may not be the first people you think of as being key workers, they’re out working on the frontline every day ensuring that both public and private properties are maintained and safe for use by the public.
Since the closure of many buildings back during the first lockdown in March 2020, the hardworking engineers at SMS Environmental have been carrying out crucial work and maintenance to buildings across the nation, including those in the healthcare sector as well as in university labs within Oxfordshire which were most recently used for the research of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
Without the work of the engineers, many buildings would have closed indefinitely and then had to face the harsh reality of reopening without any maintenance having taken place. It is much more beneficial to both building owners and facilities managers to keep buildings running, even when they are completely empty so that when premises are able to open up again, they can do so with little disruption or difficulty.
We’d like to give a huge thanks to all of our engineering colleagues who are working tirelessly to keep industries running during the fight against coronavirus. We are inspired daily by their personal commitment to making a real difference in these unprecedented times.
