Jemma Tennant's Appointment as Chair of the Water Management Society Marks a New Era
I want to start by extending my heartfelt gratitude to Ian Penney for his outstanding leadership as the former chair of the Water Management Society. Under his guidance, the society has made significant strides in promoting water management practices and facilitating knowledge sharing among industry professionals. I am honoured to follow in his footsteps and will strive to uphold the high standards he has set for the organisation. Thank you, Ian, for passing on the baton to me, I am excited for the journey ahead.
I am thrilled to announce that I have been appointed as the Chair of the Water Management Society. This is an incredible opportunity for me to lead an organisation that is dedicated to advancing the water industry through training, development, and raising standards.
The Water Management Society (WMSoc) has taken significant steps towards raising standards of competency in the industry over the years… My intention since becoming Chair is to continue supporting and promoting best practices, and ensure that professionals in the water management sector meet the highest standards of competency.
I will also use my platform to ensure that the Society continues to make a positive impact on the industry by driving innovation, fostering collaboration, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism.
One of my main focuses will be on the continued development and sharing of knowledge through our training courses, seminars, webinars, journals, and guidance documents. I believe that knowledge is power, and by providing industry professionals with the resources they need to stay informed and up-to-date, we can ensure that the water industry continues to thrive and evolve.
As a woman in a leadership position within the water industry, I am also passionate about empowering more women to enter the field and supporting those already in the industry to progress into leadership positions. Diversity and inclusion are essential for driving innovation and success, and I believe that by fostering a more diverse and inclusive workforce, we can create a stronger, more resilient industry.
Finally, I am immensely proud to be WMSoc Chair, and am excited to work with our members, partners, and stakeholders to continue our important work in training, development, and raising standards within the water industry. Together, we can make a difference and shape the future of water management for generations to come. Thank you for your support, and I look forward to leading WMSoc into a continued bright and promising future.
