Onsite audit/gap analysis - obtain an understanding of your organisation's compliance
Carrying out an onsite audit/gap analysis allows you to obtain an understanding of your organisation's compliance with current guidance around Legionella control and water quality; Providing a framework for assessing the effectiveness of current polices and procedures that your organisation has in place.
"If a contractor is commissioned to carry out maintenance and in-house expertise is not available to monitor their performance, an independent professional adviser should be retained to carry out this function. Using another maintenance contractor in a monitoring role could lead to a conflict of interest"
Department of Health - Water systems, operational management
We carry out thorough, impartial review of management competency, paperwork audits and performance monitoring for all relevant departments and appointed contractors.
This goes beyond a standard risk assessment in that the gap analysis/audit initially provides a stress test of your management structure, log book records and performance monitoring procedures similar to that which you would be subjected to during an inspection from an enforcement agency or environmental health officer.
We carry out thorough, impartial review of management competency, paperwork audits and performance monitoring for all relevant departments and appointed contractors considering:
- Management structure, awareness and competency
- Policy/Risk Management Plans
- Training
- Control Schemes/Pre-planned maintenance (PPM) programmes
- Risk assessment
- Reporting/Audit Trails (Paper based or electronic)
- Training
Findings are presented in comprehensive, easy to understand reports, which outline the audit findings and where necessary provide recommendations for improvements. The report will often be presented during a final audit review meeting and an executive review created for relevant stakeholders.
In order to ensure there is no conflict of interest we employ the same rigorous standards and structure we have accredited under UKAS ISO 17020 for Legionella assessment services and apply them to our audit and gap analysis process.
Gap analysis is often carried out on undertaking a new contract as good practice whilst audits are provided as impartial review of the systems in place for an independent organisation which SMS Environmental has had no prior involvement in assessment or engineering.
